At Minster Law, we pride ourselves on our commitment to our local communities and are passionate about supporting local causes that are dedicated to improving the lives of others.

One worthy cause we have been working closely with for over a year is St Leonard’s Hospice; a charity providing specialist palliative care and support for local people in the York area with life limiting illnesses.

We began working closely with the York-based Hospice in January 2017, by taking part in their Accumulator Challenge. Using a loan of just £30 to kick-start the activity, the challenge saw multiple fundraising teams in the York region compete to earn the biggest ‘profit’ in 30 days. Following a month of charitable activity, the total was match funded and our team of six employees managed to raise an incredible total of over £5,000 for the hospice, earning us second place in the challenge!

In 2017, our Trainee Solicitors worked closely with St Leonard’s Hospice on their Midnight Walk, a donation of unclaimed funds, a raffle fundraiser and the Sponsor a Nurse campaign. This fundraising, along with the Accumulator Challenge total, has seen a total of over £13,600 donated and raised for the worthy cause.

During Minster Law’s transition to ‘One Yorkshire Site’ and as York based staff move to our Wakefield office, Minster Law’s Trainee Solicitors organised a donation to mark our CSR relationship with St Leonard’s Hospice. The valued donation means the Hospice can now purchase outdoor tables and chairs for patients, family and staff to enjoy the garden views. Minster Law’s Make a Difference committee were more than happy to support this and have donated £500 which the Trainee Solicitors have presented to the Hospice (pictured).

Annie Keogh, Corporate Fundraiser at St Leonard’s Hospice, said: “We’re extremely grateful for the support we have received from Minster Law in recent years and for their generous donation, which will allow us to buy outdoor furniture for our patients and their families to enjoy during the summer.

“We’d especially like to thank Minster Law’s trainee solicitors for their ongoing support, with not only donations and fundraising efforts, but their volunteer days too. It just goes to show a small act of kindness from so many people can go a long way.”
