Corporate Social Responsibility
A key part of who we are is our charity and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity
Being able to support our local communities is important to everyone at Minster Law and a key part of who we are is our charity and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity. We have successfully raised and donated funds for many good causes over the years and we’re pleased that this is set to continue.
We work with registered charities and groups that help to improve the lives of others within our local communities. Whilst we also support nationwide charities, we find it important to support local charities that do not have the funding and visibility of nationwide charities but provide vital support to communities in the Yorkshire region.
We support our communities and charities through committed partnerships, as well as matched funding, sponsorship, fundraising, and volunteering.
Through our partnerships, we’ve provided unique experiences and opportunities to marginalised people in our communities.
Our CSR takes a bottom-up approach and our colleagues shape our strategy and the charities we support. Every employee at Minster commits one day a year to helping charitable causes as part of our company policy, pledging almost 3,500 hours of time to give back to our community.
Our 2019/2020 focus: building skills in the local community
We plan to invest the equivalent of £100,000 via a raft of activities, including partnerships with Wakefield District Council, local schools and small businesses, where employees will volunteer their knowledge and skills to benefit the local community and economy.
The plans are also designed to offer job opportunities to people in Wakefield, and boost career development, especially focusing on recruiting young people from local colleges.
Mary Creagh, MP for Wakefield, said: “I am delighted Minster Law are making such a positive contribution to Wakefield, and I really like the idea of employees getting directly involved with schools and businesses through volunteering.”
Shirley Woolham, CEO, said: “We chose Wakefield as our HQ for a number of reasons, and now we have moved to one site we want to play a leading role in the future prosperity of the town. We will be working hard with Mary and other local leaders to make 2019 a year of achievement for Minster Law in the community.”
