Everyone at Minster Law is committed to supporting our local communities but it’s not just charities that benefit from our time and fundraising. Many of our colleagues dedicate a large amount of their spare time to helping other local groups and organisations, such as Sarah Casimir, who teaches talented young dancers who are unable to afford expensive dance classes.

Litigation Executive Sarah has been dancing with the Club 68 Dance Group in York since she was seven years old, helping out with the younger dancers as she progressed. She now works alongside club leaders Dawn Aitchison and Helen Moyse to teach dancers as young as three years old, up to three times each week, and helps prepare the older performers ahead of disco dance and freestyle competitions. Five years ago, Sarah’s dance team even took part in TV’s Britain’s Got Talent!

As the club is run completely by volunteers, the dancers and their families do a lot of fundraising to help cover travel expenses, insurance, costumes and the cost of competing against other clubs. Minster Law’s Make a Difference team sponsored the group’s uniform for their TV appearance and helped fund a competition last year. And, earlier this year, the group ran a sponsored ‘no sugar week’ and managed to raise more than £1000!

Sarah said: “I have always enjoyed dancing and still continue to compete every now and again but nowadays I get more enjoyment out of teaching my dancers – especially my two teams, Diamond Divas and Madhatters. We rely on the support of volunteers and fundraising and Minster Law has been very supportive to our group over the years – they’ve recently helped us to purchase this year’s trophies.”

Amanda Parkinson, from Minster Law’s Make a Difference Team, added: “It’s great to see when our colleagues dedicate so much of their time and effort to worthy causes like the Club 68 Dance Group. We’re pleased we’ve been able to help support Sarah and her dancers, and wish them all every success in their forthcoming competitions.”
