At Minster Law, every journey matters. In this series, we’re spotlighting colleagues from across the business to share their stories, exploring the paths they’ve taken, the challenges they’ve overcome, and why they’ve chosen Minster Law as the place to build their careers.
This time, we’re speaking to Daisy Turner-Doran, an OIC team coach whose three-year journey shows a story of a positive and resilient attitude.
Why I chose Minster Law
“I was initially approached by a friend who worked at Minster Law’s serious injury department, and they encouraged me to apply as it’s a really rewarding place to work.
“Not having any legal background, I was a bit apprehensive to apply but I was looking for a new challenge and thought that a workplace that was described to me as supportive, open and uplifting, would give me the confidence to develop my skills. I got the job in 2022 and I haven’t looked back since.”
My experience
“I started as an onboarding advisor and was a little bit nervous at first given my lack of previous legal experience. However, speaking with insurers and clients every day made me much more confident in establishing relationships and allowed me to gain a better understanding of Minster Law as a business.”
“I was the first point of contact for people going through often really traumatic experiences, so it was important to me to take an empathetic and professional approach to every phone call, in order to achieve the best outcome possible for our clients.”
“After a year of being an advisor, I moved to the file handling department. This was a great opportunity to learn as I go, immersing immerse myself in a new area of the business that I hadn’t really come across before. The team was really supportive and always ready to help which allowed me to really settle in and enjoy the experience.”
“A new opportunity was available in March 2025 to be an Official Injury Claim (OIC) team coach and I decided to go for it and embrace a leadership position for the first time. I was very grateful for the support that my managers had given me, so wanted to pay this back by developing skills to support the wider team, as well as challenging myself to learn and grow.”
The Minster way
“Minster Law is not a traditional law firm. Having no experience of working in a legal firm, I was expecting it to be really formal and to follow a rigid hierarchy, making it hard to learn new skills or progress. I was pleasantly surprised by the business’s empathetic and collaborative approach, which allows us to continue delivering tailored support for our clients, so they feel supported through the whole process of their claim.”
“My last six months were especially challenging as I needed to step up into a new leadership role, but the recognition and reassurance I received from my colleagues was the motivation I needed to keep going. I was really proud to win the “Be Courageous Award” at our company’s recent annual awards ball, in recognition of the work I’ve put in in this new role. It was amazing to be recognised, it showed me that no amount of effort goes unnoticed and that my team is always my biggest support.”
Advice for others
“If you’re looking for a rewarding and supportive workplace, I couldn’t recommend Minster Law enough. The team will always appreciate hard work and a positive attitude, and you get to feel as though you’re making a positive difference to people’s lives every day. If you want to be part of a team that genuinely values your contribution, look no further!”
