Nicola Margrave shares her experience starting out at Minster Law in a brand new role.

Starting at a new place of work can be daunting, even more so when you’re stepping into a new place of work and a brand-new position: an Operations Team Leader for Minster Law’s serious injury department.

With first day nerves swirling around as I walked in the building, I was unsure of what day one would bring at Minster Law. Will the role be what I expected?  Will the team like me?  How can I help them achieve what they want from their legal career?

Meeting the managers set me at ease though. They explained what they were looking for and what tools I would have at my disposal. As the role was explained, it became clear that it was exactly what I thought it would be.  As all my insecurities vanished, my mind put at rest, I started out on my journey.

The first few days were filled with training sessions, learning all about Minster Law and its ethos which focuses on striving to be the best you can be whilst maintaining a business acumen. I then went on to meet the team, which was a bit daunting, but it was soon evident to me that everyone was very friendly and was there to help in any way they could.

Learning about the different roles in the team helped me understand that every team member makes a valuable contribution to the claims journey regardless of their role.  Even if the work that some team members do feels like just another chasing task, it is actually a vital piece of the jigsaw in being able to progress a claim and for the client to be able to reach a settlement when the time is right.

The first few months of getting to know everyone and an understanding of who works with who in the team helped me to see the complete claims journey and understand that every contribution at every level matters.

I am looking forward to continuing my journey and helping the team grow and develop into great legal minds.
