Sophie Davies

Serious Injury Associate
Background

I have worked in claimant personal injury practice as a fee earner since 1999. I spent my first 16 years working for a Legal 500 firm in Sheffield where I qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2004. I have experience of all aspects of personal injury litigation, handling a mix of accident claims arising from road traffic accidents, highway trips, slips and trips in premises and employers’ liability cases from inception to conclusion. I have also assisted in catastrophic injury cases involving amputations, fatalities, and serious brain injuries. In 2015, I undertook a new career challenge working for a barrister-led law firm as a Senior Legal Executive handling claims arising from road traffic accidents. From 2018 to 2022, I worked in a Legal 500 Trade Union Firm and for a smaller practice both in Sheffield as a Senior Legal Executive. I was promoted to Associate in this firm in 2020. My role involved working on cases that had previously been rejected by other law firms. This required a “thinking outside the box” approach to litigation. Most of my caseload involved contested litigated cases and I specialised in higher value, complex, technical cases. I was also involved in the supervision and training of junior members of the team. In November 2022 I joined the exceptional and highly regarded serious injury team at Minster Law. I handle a case load of complex serious injury claims. In November 2023, I was promoted to the role of Associate.

What are you most passionate about in your job?

I am passionate about helping and supporting my clients through the claims process which can be a daunting experience, especially where serious injuries are involved. I place great emphasis on client care and value the strong relationships I build with my clients. My focus is to always achieve the best possible outcome for every client, whilst at the same time ensuring the process is as transparent and stress free as possible. I utilise all my skills as a lawyer to achieve the best possible outcome for every client. I work proactively at the outset of a case to secure early private rehabilitation and access to interim funds to maximise my client’s recovery. As an experienced litigator, I pride myself on my attention to detail and ability to challenge decisions to secure a positive outcome. I also adopt a friendly, supportive, and approachable relationship with my clients which enables me to build a good rapport and harness great working relationships.

What are your personal interests outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, gardening, the odd glass of wine and the cinema.
