Julie Loftus

Senior Serious Injury File Handler
Background

My initial degree was in Social Science, and I had initially intended to become a social worker. My love of law was ignited during my degree studies, and I went on to work in the Citizens Advice Bureau for some years after graduating, before studying law and qualifying as a solicitor. I worked very hard for my law qualification (I was by then a mature student) and was delighted to be awarded a number of national prizes for my Law Society finals course, including the top overall UK exam mark.

What are you most passionate about in your job?

To aim to offer a first class technical and customer care service to each client, focusing on achieving the best possible outcome in each case. My clients have a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds and every client’s particular situation is different. I am passionate about providing a fully inclusive service, actively listening to my clients, and fully understanding their individual circumstances, their needs, and priorities. My feedback from clients over the years has been that they trust me and feel I have provided a very personal service and a real commitment to their case. The claims process can be a stressful experience, layered on top of the stress of having been seriously injured in a road accident. I am passionate about using my communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with my technical legal skills, to take away as much of the stress as possible from my client. My passion for justice led me to study law. I am passionate about getting justice for my clients whose lives have been so unfairly adversely affected by the negligence of another road user.

What are your personal interests outside of work?

I have 4 dogs and really enjoy our long country and seaside walks together. I love dancing; I used to enjoy competition ballroom dancing and for many years was privileged to have ballroom and latin dance lessons with some of the top national teachers. I continue to enjoy latin/ballroom social dancing. I enjoy listening to a wide range of music, both classical and modern, and love listening to a live band or orchestra. I enjoy a wide range of the arts including film, photography and art, modern and classical dance concerts and much more. I have a keen interest in political events both nationally and internationally. My family is a big part of my life. I have two adult children and a young grandchild. My wider family live in my hometown of Liverpool, which will always be home even though I left the city many years ago, and which I still visit every month to spend time with my Mum and siblings who live there.
