Jamie’s trainee journey

Jamie Noble, Serious Injury Solicitor at Minster Law and past trainee, shares his experience training as a solicitor at Minster Law. 

What were you doing before the training contract?

I had started at Minster Law fresh out of university, initially in the serious injury administration team. From there, I moved into a role as a serious injury paralegal and stayed in that role while completing the Legal Practice Course part time.

Once I had concluded the LPC I applied for the training contract and completed the same in September 2021.

What attracted you to train as a solicitor at Minster Law? 

Minster Law is a forward thinking and innovative business, which thrives due to the quality of its employees. This fed into the training contract itself, and I knew that I would be exposed to a number of different areas, and I would be working with colleagues who were both friendly and approachable, as well as experts in their field.

What did you get up to as part of your training? 

During my training contract, I worked across a variety of different areas, including multi-track claims, fast track claims, compliance and employment law. Training at Minster Law also offered a bespoke business seat, which allowed me the opportunity to be involved with projects in the business, as well as a secondment with the Association of Consumer Support Organisations (of which Minster Law is a member).

In addition, we were involved in other activities, such as attending careers fairs, arranging events, research papers and attending industry events and training.

How did the training benefit you?

Training at Minster Law helped me to develop in a variety of ways.

Firstly, there was the legal knowledge I had gained. Prior to the training contract, my working experience had been limited to multi-track PI claims and so the training contract gave me the opportunity to develop on that knowledge, as well as to provide opportunities to learn about other areas, such as fast track claims, employment law and compliance.

In addition, I feel that through the exposure to new experiences provided by the training contract, I left as a much more confident individual. The training contract really helps to not only develop you as a solicitor, but also to develop you as a person.

Where are you now?

I am currently working as a solicitor in our serious injury department. My caseload is made up of clients who have suffered significant and often life-changing injuries.

I feel very proud to have the opportunity to maximise the compensation these clients receive, and importantly, to try and provide them with the best quality of life into the future.

What are some of the things you particularly enjoyed when training as a solicitor?

Training at Minster Law was made enjoyable by the colleagues I worked with. While it was expected that we would seek an answer first, I always knew that there would be a helpful colleague ready and willing to help should I need it. This really created an environment in which I was encouraged to succeed.

Minster Law has some of the finest personal injury solicitors in the country and I found the guidance they provided to me to be invaluable, both during the TC and post qualification.

Finally, I found the layout of the seats to be unique (such as the business seat as discussed above), and the flexibility provided allowed me to choose my own path and bespoke route to qualification.
