We’re committed to developing our people, which is why we invest heavily in supporting our employees in building the skills they need to help them progress in their role.

Leading Our People (LOP) is a development programme we offer to our managers across various departments in the business.  The eight-day programme is split over six months and aims to refresh and enhance our managers’ skills. As part of this, delegates are required to complete a business project which they will be expected to deliver to Minster Law’s Executive Board on the final day of the course.

We caught up with Team Manager, Marc Massey, to see how he found the programme.

How did you feel when you were offered a place on the programme?

Marc: I’d heard a lot of positives from my team manager and was advised I would take a lot from the course, having the opportunity to work alongside varying areas in the business. I was happy to get on the cohort as I had missed it when I first became a team manager in September 2016.

How have you found the programme so far?

Marc: I’ve found it very beneficial to my role and feel like I can apply learnings from each session as I have progressed through the programme. I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside some team managers and team leaders who I wouldn’t usually work with in my day-to-day role.

What’s been the best thing about the programme to date?

Marc: Probably the catering selection…

I jest. I really enjoyed the coaching module and have readily applied the learnings to my role at Minster Law, which involves a lot of active coaching on a day-to-day basis. The programmed has helped me identify the best methods of preparing and delivering coaching to individuals and the team.

What advice would you offer to others who may be offered the opportunity to go on the programme in the future?

Marc: I would grab the opportunity with both hands. You will see a varied viewpoint on specific issues and situations from across the business, and how different individuals tackle these subjects is a great learning tool.
