Car ride on road at sunset

According to research by the Department for Transport, there were over 24,000 people seriously injured in reported road traffic accidents in 2016 alone. Not all injuries are immediately obvious and the impact of some injuries may be more serious than initially expected. For that reason it is important to undergo a medical assessment after your road traffic accident.

If your car insurance provider has recommended Minster Law to you and you have instructed us to make a personal injury claim on your behalf, we may need to work with medical professionals to assess the severity of your injury as part of the claims process. From a minor trauma such as whiplash and bruising, to more serious damage that could cause problems long term, such as a brain injury, the amount of compensation you should expect to receive is based on the extent of your injury and how it has affected your life following your accident. Your solicitor or claims handler will be able to talk you in more detail about this, and give you an idea of the possible compensation you could receive.

A recent survey of 1,070 people between 2014 and 2017 indicates whiplash and minor bruising continue to be the most common injuries sustained in road traffic accidents in England.
