Prior to joining Minster in August 2022, I had only ever worked in commercial litigation with no personal injury background what-so-ever. Joining a new company is always overwhelming in any event as you prepare for different processes, new case management systems and policies etc. However, as soon as I started, I knew I was in the right place in terms of receiving support and guidance. For example, the sheer amount of e-learning that is available is quite mind-blowing and I for one have certainly made full use of it.

I have found that being halfway through my CILEx studies has helped me a lot in terms of familiarising myself with the terminology within personal injury and I can now apply what I learnt in my tort and civil litigation training into my day-to-day work.

I have been given opportunities to attend trials and conferences with Barristers which is something I have never done before and I have found this to be very educating, particularly when listening to Counsel advise clients on the facts of their claim from their perspective.

Additionally, the level of support and supervision provided by my superiors I have found to be reassuring. It can be nerve-racking sometimes as a paralegal in training enroute to qualification. Naturally, you lack confidence as you do not want to make any mistakes, but knowing that file handlers, team leaders and management are constantly engaging with the caseloads and offering advice, is somewhat comforting.

I have been at Minster for 9 months, and I can honestly say that not only have I come a long way with developing my personal injury knowledge but having the opportunity to develop my client care skills and knowing how to correctly undertake legal research, together with the myriad of additional training I’ve received, I’m very grateful to Minster for their support.
