New regional hub brings experienced colleagues into Minster’s national team and strengthens support for membership organisations and trade unions
Minster Law is opening its first office in Cardiff on 5 November 2026 and has taken on RCN Law’s existing portfolio of employers’ liability claims, extending its relationship with the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) and building its presence across Wales and the South West.
Building on an established relationship with the RCN
In February 2026, Minster was appointed to handle new personal injury claims for RCN members. This latest agreement brings the existing cases previously handled by RCN Law, the alternative business structure set up with NewLaw, into Minster Law.
Experienced colleagues are transferring from RCN Law to join Minster’s regional team. Their move means specialist knowledge stays with the cases, and members with ongoing claims benefit from continuity of support.
Our relationship with the RCN is already well established, and taking on these existing cases is a natural next step. Bringing experienced colleagues into Minster helps retain the knowledge and expertise that matter to members, supported by the resources of a national specialist personal injury firm.” Shirley Woolham, CEO of Minster Law, said.
Victoria Peal, Associate Director of Legal Services at the Royal College of Nursing, said: “Our priority is ensuring members receive expert support and a positive experience throughout their claims. Minster Law already handles new personal injury claims for our members, so this builds on an established relationship.
“Retaining experienced colleagues and their knowledge of members’ cases is an important part of that continuity. Minster’s investment in Cardiff also brings a stronger local presence alongside the support and specialist expertise of a national firm.”
A new office in Wales
The Cardiff office will serve as a hub for both transferring colleagues and Minster’s existing team across the region. It builds on the firm’s established presence through remote working, providing a physical base for collaboration, future recruitment and further growth.
Shirley added: “Opening in Cardiff is also a clear statement of our commitment to Wales and the South West. We already have talented colleagues across the region. This gives them a shared base and creates a home for more people to build their careers with Minster as we grow.”
Growing its employers’ liability practice
This is Minster’s second acquisition in recent months, following the acquisition of ARAG’s personal injury business. The agreement supports the firm’s plans to grow its employers’ liability practice and develop new relationships with membership organisations and trade unions looking for specialist personal injury support for their members.
“Membership organisations and trade unions share a need for legal partners who understand the responsibility that comes with supporting their members,” said Shirley. “We see a clear opportunity to build on our employers’ liability expertise and develop more of these relationships, combining specialist advice with a service shaped around members’ needs.
“Following our recent ARAG acquisition, this agreement demonstrates our approach to growth: choosing opportunities where our expertise, people and partnerships can deliver lasting value. We welcome conversations with organisations looking for that kind of legal partner.”
