Background
I have spent my career supporting people whose lives have been turned upside down by the injuries they have sustained in an accident. I began my career in Newcastle helping injured trade union members, which gave me a strong foundation in understanding how overwhelming the aftermath of an accident can be.
While completing my legal qualifications, I dedicated myself to developing the skills needed to guide clients with professionalism and compassion and qualified as a solicitor in September 2007. In 2010, I moved to another well-known firm in Newcastle, where I helped to set up their neurotrauma department, and specialised in claims involving brain injuries, where I developed an understanding of the depth of support those clients with complex brain injuries need, both legally and emotionally.
I joined Minster Law in 2022 as a serious injury associate specialising in brain injury and was promoted to Partner in 2024. Now I deal predominantly with serious injury claims arising from road traffic accidents.
I am secretary and trustee for Headway Northumberland, helping to support brain injury survivors in the community, the experience I gain from this role gives me a real understanding of the challenges faced by those living with brain injury.
The breadth of experience I have developed means clients can feel confident that I appreciate the challenges they face and have the specialist expertise to help them secure the rehabilitation, support, and outcomes they need.
We come into our client’s, and their families, lives at one of the worst points of their lives, having suffered life changing injuries. The ultimate outcome of a claim is to obtain monetary compensation for a person’s injuries and the effect of the accident, but our job is much more than that.
Being a part of helping guide them through one of the most difficult times of their lives, helping them to access rehabilitation, supporting them and their families to try and lessen the effect of the accident, and finding a way to come to terms with their life post-accident. We cannot undo the effects of the accident, but we can make a real difference, getting the right foundations and support in place so that once the claim is finished, they are in the best place to rebuild their life. The right rehabilitation delivered at the right time, can make such a significant difference, and is fundamental in claims involving serious injuries. The impact of the progress a client can make is what motivates me in every case.

Case Experience
Rachael acted for a client who sustained significant and life-changing injuries in a head-on collision, with injuries that affected every area of their life including their ability to communicate and engage with family. She secured interim payments for the purchase and renovation of a suitable property, and ultimately resolved extremely complex settlement issues to secure a significant outcome for her client after six years of litigation.
