Andrew Sloan

Associate
Background
I attended the University of Central England obtaining a BA in Law and Politics before taking a year off travelling. I completed the Legal Practice Course at Manchester University and, whilst undertaking my training contract, completed a Masters Degree in Sports Law. Upon qualifying, I worked at a local law firm in Leeds for two years before moving to a national firm, where I became an associate solicitor. I remained at Irwin Mitchell for 9 years until I moved to the Catastrophic Injury Team at Minster Law in 2012.

I understand the effect that life-changing injuries have upon clients and I enjoy making a difference to their life, understanding the need for early access to rehabilitation and treatment whilst offering the injured party and their families much-needed support. I thrive on the challenge posed by the litigation process and the need to be part of the client’s journey from the outset to settlement. I want to make a real difference to someone’s quality of life and obtaining justice.

I am privileged to act on behalf of the injured party and be part of their life trying to help them get back to normality as much as they can.
Case Experience
  1. Andrew represented a Thai national in a traumatic brain injury claim arising from a motorcycle accident. The matter was highly complex due to a language barrier, the rejection of case management and rehabilitation, and the client being sectioned under the Mental Health Act. The case settled for £2.25 million, approved at court.
  2. Andrew represented a client who sustained an above-knee amputation in a road traffic accident where liability remained in dispute. The case settled for in excess of £500,000, accounting for contributory negligence.
  3. Andrew represented a 30-year-old male who suffered a moderate to severe traumatic brain injury and multiple orthopaedic injuries. The case was complex due to a history of alcohol and drug misuse, the client lacking capacity, and involvement of child support services. Through a collaborative approach with the defendant’s insurers, a settlement of £3.5 million was approved at court.
  4. Andrew is currently representing a young client who suffered an exceptional range of serious injuries in a road traffic accident, including spinal fractures, cardiac tamponade, haemothorax, pneumothorax, femoral fractures, a patella fracture, a renal laceration, and multiple other significant injuries.

"Andrew Sloan has been my Associate Solicitor within my case and he has remained professional and supportive whilst also very approachable and amendable. Andre has had to deal with a family working their way through PTSD and mental health problems and a variety of struggles and has used his personable and adaptive approach to always make us feel heard, supported and able to contact him if we need anything. He has demonstrated a client centred approach and has not left anything overlooked. He has the client's best interest at heart and we feel in very good hands. We feel lucky to have had his support throughout our difficult times.”

Client

“My son had a bad motorcycle accident 4 years ago. Since the accident Andrew Sloan and the team of Minster Law has worked so hard with my son in his recovery to get him back to normality. A very long process but they did it. So I can't thank you all enough for what you have done for Jordan especially Andrew, such a professional job they have all done. Thank you.”

Client

“I had a motorbike crash back in 2023 and I have spent all of the time from then until today (June 2025) under the help and guidance of minster law. Andrew Sloan, Jawad Ahmed and Gemma Stanley were the team around my case and to say they done their job would be an understatement. All of the team went above and beyond in every effort they did and made sure I understood every step of the way. A special mention for Andrew who was the case leader and who I have built a strong friendship with over the 2 years. Andrew would check in regularly and make sure I was okay not just regarding the case but with day-to-day life as he understood the loneliness and mental pressure that being involved in a life changing accident was having on me. Again, going above and beyond. Andrew and the team are a real testament to the company, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a smooth and reassuring experience during a difficult time. I will miss them all. Thank you, guys.”

“ I just really wanted to say that honestly, you have been superb in the way you have managed this client, I know the client very much appreciates you and your genuine care for him in general. I just wish more of my Solicitors were more like you. The client has consistently said that he 100% trusts you and he completely respects that you always had his best interests at heart. You were exactly what this vulnerable gentleman needed, and I just hope that your firm appreciates your brilliantness. I look forward to working with you again as in my opinion, you are an outstanding Solicitor.”
