I have more questions about the programme. Who can I contact?

Please email [email protected] with any questions.

Can I take part in the programme if I’ve completed (or partially completed) a CILEx qualification or the legal practice course?

Yes, you can.

We encourage those who have partially or fully completed CILEx level 6 or the legal practice course to apply to the three year programme. We also welcome those who have completed CILEx levels 4 and 5 to apply to our six year programme.

Do I have to pay any costs towards the programme?

None at all! We will cover the costs of your training, preparation courses, and examinations.

Can I still apply if I went to university but haven’t done a degree in law?

Yes, you can still apply. You can apply to the three-year course if you have taken any undergraduate degree and completion of the GDL conversion course.

If you haven’t done a degree in law and haven’t completed the GDL conversion course, you will need to take part in the six-year apprenticeship programme.

Do I need legal experience to apply?

No legal experience is required for our six-year apprenticeship programme. All you’ll need is A Levels (or equivalent) to apply.

What qualifications will I get?

Upon completion of the apprenticeship, you’ll have achieved qualification of Solicitor Level 7 Apprenticeship LLB (Hons) Law and Legal Practice. This includes passing both Solicitors Qualifying Examinations (SQE) 1 and 2.

Will I get a job offer at Minster Law following completion of the programme?

You’ll get a permanent position following completion of the programme and we’ll look to secure you a role in your desired specialism. Our dedicated mentors will support you throughout your training to help you to achieve your career goals.

What areas of law will I work in?

You’ll be part of top 100 UK law firm and will gain experience in personal injury law, which includes road traffic accidents, bike accidents, and accidents at work. You’ll also get experience in employment, consumer, and property law.

What will I earn?

You’ll receive a competitive salary while you gain legal experience, which rises after each year of the programme.

A typical starting salary for the six-year apprenticeship programme is around £18,000, rising to £28,000 in your last year.

A typical starting salary for a three-year apprenticeship programme is around £24,000, rising to £28,000 in your last year.

How do I apply?

You’ll be able to apply through the link at the bottom of this page if our application window is open. If our application window is currently closed, please email your CV to [email protected] with your contact details so we can keep in touch with future updates.

How long does the apprenticeship take?

The length of the programme is dependent on your current qualifications:

  • Three years for people with a law degree or higher (or relevant experience)
  • Six years for people with A Levels or equivalent

How do I qualify?

You’ll need to complete the full programme and pass both Solicitors Qualifying Examinations (SQE) 1 and 2, as well as any required portfolio work.

What does the application process look like?

If your application is successful, you’ll take part in a relaxed and informal telephone interview with our current apprentices/trainee solicitors. It’ll be your chance to get a feel for the programme and ask any burning questions to those already part of the programme.

If your telephone interviews goes well, you’ll be invited to an assessment centre at Minster Law’s head office in Wakefield. You’ll take part in some practical tasks, get to see what life is like at Minster Law, and meet some of our senior solicitors and leadership team.

Our leadership team is committed to fostering our people and culture, so the final stage of the process is an interview with our Head of Legal Practice and CEO. But don’t worry, they’re a friendly a bunch!

Am I eligible to apply? What are the minimum entry requirements?

We offer two programmes dependent on your current qualifications and experience.

Applicants need 5 GCSEs grade C or above and 3 A Levels grade C or above for our six-year apprenticeship programme.

A law degree OR any undergraduate degree and completion of the GDL conversion course (or equivalent) is required for our three-year apprenticeship programme.

No legal experience is required for either programmes.

We also welcome those who have completed or partially completed a CILEx qualification.
