Shaun Walker

Serious Injury Associate
Background

Qualifying in 1992, I have always worked on serious personal injury claims which have significant value. Initially I worked for a nationwide defendant law firm where and I was in their employment for 12 years. I was exposed to a mixture of claimant and defendant PI work. I set up a successful claimant PI team of 20 members from scratch. I then worked for an industrial disease practise for 6 years and ran a successful group action claim with test cases litigated through to trial on behalf of 150 employees pursuing claims for HAVS. I then worked as a salaried partner for 3 years at another firm where I worked on a mixed high value PI case load until securing employment with Minster Law in 2012. The highest gross valued claim that I have dealt with to date totalled £7m.

What are you most passionate about in your job?

As a solicitor with over 30 years of experience in high valued claims I enjoy making a difference in the lives of the seriously injured claimant. I would say that I am as passionate about rehabilitation as I am about the litigation/claim side of the process. Over the course of my career I have witnessed a noticeable shift by all parties to the serious engagement in the rehabilitation process and distinct from just viewing claims in terms of potential value. This change has been of real benefit to the seriously injured claimant who often is faced with life changing injuries. Minster Law shares my ethos in terms of actively encouraging engagement in rehabilitation.

What are your personal interests outside of work?

Cycle racing (cyclocross), triathlon, fell running, snowboarding. I am a member of a number of sporting clubs. I also follow the regular misfortunes of Derby County FC!

"Many thanks to Shaun Walker and his team for a professional and friendly service in the aftermath of a road accident resulting in my head injury. Always friendly in their manner and down to earth with advice and support. Nothing was too much trouble which was invaluable at that stressful time. Again, many thanks indeed."
