Jonathan Bamforth

Associate Solicitor and Principal Solicitor for Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries
Background

I started work as a trainee solicitor at a practice with offices in Leeds and Bradford in the early 1990s and quickly gravitated to dealing with cases for people who had been seriously injured in all sorts of accidents. I worked for 2 other firms doing similar and increasingly specialist work until I joined Minster in 2009 as part of what was then a relatively new serious injury team. It is hard to believe that I have been here for over 11 years now and I am incredibly proud to be part of what is now one of the largest serious injury teams in the country.

What are you most passionate about in your job?

I am incredibly privileged to work with some of Minster’s most seriously injured clients and my primary focus is to get each and every one the very best rehabilitation possible together with a financial settlement to secure their future. I am regularly humbled by what our clients achieve after suffering some of the worst injuries imaginable through sheer hard work and determination. I believe passionately that the experience of working solely for clients who have suffered very serious injury, as I and many of my colleagues do, means that we get the best possible outcomes in every case. I am extremely proud to have recovered many millions of pounds in compensation for our clients over the last 11 years. I love the fact that the work I do means being part of a team. I work with some fabulous people within Minster but, in most cases, also with a much larger team of leading experts and lawyers working together for some of the most deserving clients you can imagine. I definitely like winning but I never want to lose sight of the fact that our clients must come first. Working collaboratively with a Defendant’s legal team when that approach is reciprocated can often produce the best outcome in a way that is far less stressful for the injured person involved.

What are your personal interests outside of work?

I love sport, particularly rugby union and cricket. I still play competitive golf off a respectable handicap and spend many happy hours supporting my children playing various sports. My wife and I go to the theatre and live music as much as we can although not as much as we would like!

"I have worked quite extensively with Jonathan Bamforth, David Sears and Rebecca Waller over the last 2-3 years. They are knowledgeable, completely dedicated to their clients and excellent in every aspect of how they conduct their cases. I would not hesitate to recommend them highly within the field of catastrophic injury litigation."
