Minster Law is delighted to be named Insurance Law Firm of the Year at the British Claims Awards 2021. This prestigious award recognises the value we create for insurers through our innovative approach to legal work, creative use of technology, ethical approach to claims, contribution to the wider industry, business flexibility, and a willingness to push beyond our comfort zone.

Whilst we provide legal services to the insurance sector as a very proud law firm, Minster Law is organised as a digital customer service business which measures success on excellent customer outcomes that drive strong economic and brand benefits for our partners. We are constantly seeking innovative ways to remove friction and effort from the claims process – for all parties, to offer customers a more seamless and simple claims experience.

Some of our key initiatives over the past year include our continued investment into digital transformation – from the launch of our end-to-end customer claims portal to reengineering our back-office business processes: leveraging automated workflow and decisioning capabilities to create scalable, cost-efficient claims operations to support our insurer partners and provide a ‘certainty of service’ that customers really feel.

We also lead the market in mediation, with alternative dispute resolution (ADR) initiatives with third party insurers to facilitate greater collaboration in the industry and certainty for clients. We recognise most of our customers don’t want a legal fight – they just want an appropriate and timely resolution, which our ADR programme provides within an average of 10-days compared to the 10+ months that claimants wait for court hearings. This has not only allowed claimants and insurers to come to a quicker resolution, but has also helped to reduce frictional costs and provide a smoother experience for all parties.

The host announcing our award said: “Minster Law impressed the judges with its focus on alternative dispute resolution and delivering a timely and well-made solution. This law firm is also sensible in its approach, preferring to enter into collaborations rather than being adversarial.”

Shirley Woolham, CEO at Minster Law, said: “I’m delighted that we’ve been awarded Insurance Law Firm of the year, particularly given the calibre of our fellow nominees.

This is testimony to the hard work, belief, creativity, and passion of all within Minster Law as we continue to support our business partners and their insurance customers. I want to say a massive thank you to the Minster team for all you do as we continually strive to find new ways to work in our ever-changing world. Your imagination, resilience and energy is amazing.”
