It is possible to deal with Probate in person without engaging a Solicitor if you have lots of time on your hands and are prepared to accept the risks of making a mistake which could make you personally liable. Applicants in person must also attend an interview at the local Probate Registry.

1. Identify assets and liabilities of the estate
2. Value the estate
3. Deal with all correspondence
4. Identify tax liability and complete and submit the appropriate Inland Revenue account
5. Prepare and submit the Probate application
6. Collect in the assets or advise on liquidation
7. Discharge the liabilities of the estate from the estate assets
8. Prepare the estate account
9. Distribute the estate to the beneficiaries
