Frequently asked questions in relation to Accidents

Who will be responsible for the handling of my claim?

  • Minster Law have a wealth of experience in handling personal injury claims and have a dedicated team of experienced lawyers who specialise in accidents at work and slipping or tripping accidents.
  • Our Lawyers work with the help of assistants and so you should always be able to speak with your lawyer or an assistant within office hours.
  • Clients will have their own dedicated lawyer, with a direct telephone and email contact for your convenience. 

Do I need a local solicitor to act for me?

  • No –Minster law provide a nationwide service.
  • We are always contactable by email and telephone. If you would rather meet in person and require a face to face meeting these may be arranged.
  • We have links with nationwide service providers, and so any appointments you would be required to attend, such as medical appointments, will be arranged locally for your convenience. If Court proceedings are necessary we shall request these be dealt with in your local Court.
  • If your accident occurred within England or Wales (including the Channel Islands) we are able to act on your behalf.

How long do I have to make a claim?

  • The Limitation Act prescribes that Claimants have 3 years from the date of the accident in which to make a claim.
  • We would advise that claims are made at the earliest opportunity following the accident and you should contact Minster Law in relation to making a claim without delay.

How long is my claim likely to take?

  • We have the knowledge and experience to deal with claims quickly and efficiently and we pride ourselves on this service.
  • It is not possible to say exactly how long a claim will take. Where fault for the accident can easily be ascertained and where Court Proceedings are not necessary claims will typically take in the region of 7 – 12 months to resolve.
  • If it is necessary for Court proceedings to be issued the Court will set a timetable, known as directions, and we shall keep you fully informed of the dates set under this timetable.

How will my claim be funded?

  • You will receive 100% of the compensation which you are awarded.
  • There are a number of ways which your claim can be funded. These may include:
  1. Legal expense insurance (Legal protection insurance)
  2. Trade Union Funding
  3. Conditional Fee agreements (No win no fee agreements)
  4. After the event insurance policies
  • If Minster Law act on your behalf you will not be required to pay any money upfront and nothing will be deducted from your compensation.
